Privacy
Jokestick games are made from stories about real people, most of whom don't know yet. So we keep as little as we can, for as short a time as we can, and we never use it for anything except making the game.

What we collect
- If you buy a game: the same, plus whether you asked us to start straight away. Stripe takes the payment: we never see your card, and Stripe keeps the payment record.
- If you save a founding place: the occasion, roughly how many people, the date of the do if there is one, the edition, your first name if you give it, and your email.
- When you talk to Joy: what you tell her about the group, how you describe each person, and the message you write for the end of the game.
- If you choose to use a photo: it's read once to describe one face, and deleted straight away. It's never stored or logged. Skin tone is never read from a photo: you choose it.
- If you ask for a takedown: which game, who you are in it if you say, your email and anything you add.
We don't ask for surnames, addresses or phone numbers of anyone in the game, and we ask you not to send them.
What we use it for
Making your game, telling you about your order, and handling takedowns. That's all. No adverts, no selling or sharing your details, and no tracking cookies. The site sets no cookies at all; a game saves your progress on your own phone.
How long we keep it
- Stories and order details are deleted 30 days after we deliver the game. For our accounts we keep a note of the amount and the date you paid, with no name or email; Stripe keeps its own payment record.
- Founding places are kept until we've invited you, or until you ask us to remove yours.
- Takedown requests are kept as a record that we did what was asked.
Who helps us
- Cloudflare hosts the site and stores orders and stories.
- Stripe takes payments.
- Resend sends our emails: your link, reminders if you stop part way, and the email when your game's ready.
- Anthropic runs Joy and helps write the game. They don't use what you tell Joy to train their models.
- Apple or Google, if you use the microphone button: your phone's own speech-to-text turns your words into text before you send them.

If you're in a game
You can ask for it to be taken down, no questions asked: use the takedown form. You also have the right to ask what we hold about you, and to have it corrected or deleted. The full notice for people in a game says where the stories came from and exactly what we hold.
Who we are
Jokestick, at jokestick.com, run by its two founders. Our company registration is in progress; its name, number and address will appear here the day it completes. To ask anything about your information, write to privacy@jokestick.com or use the takedown form (say what you need in the last box).
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask for a copy of your information, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it. If you're unhappy with how we've handled it, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
